Anthony M. “Tony” Frank. In 1979, while CEO of Nationwide Savings and Chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, Tony Frank created a pilot Reverse Annuity Mortgage (RAM) program, the first reverse mortgage in California. This program was the prototype for many programs to follow. After serving as U.S. Postmaster General, Tony went on to cofound Transamerica HomeFirst with NatEquity’s CEO, Peter Mazonas. Transamerica HomeFirst was the first successful proprietary lifetime income reverse mortgage program. Tony also served as the founding outside director of Charles Schwab Company, Schwab Bank and Triton International, now a Transamerica company. Tony holds a BA and MBA from Dartmouth College, (Tuck School). Recently Deceased.
Lynford Graham is a CPA with more than 40 years of audit practice and policy development experience. Dr. Graham is a past member of the Audit Standards Board. He chaired the Task Force and updates to AICPA pronouncements on audit risk, audit sampling, revenue recognition and fair value accounting. He was the National Accounting & SEC Consulting Partner at BDO and previously at Coopers & Lybrand. Dr. Graham is the author of books including The Accounting Handbook and Internal Control Audit and Compliance (2015). Dr. Graham holds an MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, (Warton School).
Peter Mazonas, CPA – Chief Executive Officer. Peter has a 30 years passion for providing senior homeowners with financial products and managing emerging companies specializing in the needs of senior markets. In 2006, he founded Life Settlement Financial (LSF) to aggregate life insurance policies as investments for institutional buys. LSF owns the unique IP licensed to NatEquity. Previously, in 1989 he founded and managed Transamerica HomeFirst, an early leader and largest provider of privately-funded home equity access mortgages throughout the United States. Peter has been issued patents for both the design of shared appreciation reverse mortgages and other longevity-dependent products. In 1972, he founded and managed the Executive Financial Planning division at Bank of America. He later founded the Private Banking Division of Bank of America. Peter received his initial audit and tax training at Price Waterhouse after graduate school.
Peter DeRooy, CPA – Chief Financial Officer. Pete was until recently the CFO of a multi-billion-dollar national independent mortgage banking firm with 70 offices in 14 states. Pete and Peter Mazonas started working together in the early 2000s. Prior to his mortgage banking experience, he spent 12 years in the life settlement industry as the CFO of a private equity backed company that owned a $2 billion life settlement portfolio and a majority interest in a national life settlement provider, where he had spent seven years as the Director of Finance and Operations. During his time there, the Company sourced, underwrote and serviced more than $2.5 billion of life settlement policies. Prior to his life settlement experience, he held executive finance and accounting positions with both public and private companies in the specialty retail, real estate and telecommunications industries. He began his career in public accounting in the audit practices of Laventhal & Horwath and Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co.
Eric Ranson, FIAA – Chief Actuary and Portfolio Manager. Eric and Peter Mazonas started working together in 2010. Eric is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA) and has a BA and Masters of Applied Finance. He securitized $8 billion of mortgage-backed securities annually while managing a $20 billion fund. He has worked as an actuary, portfolio manager and chief financial officer in the UK, Australia and the U.S. in longevity and real estate markets for the past twenty-five years for Bankers Trust and GE Capital. Along the way he underwrote and was portfolio manager for a billion dollar life settlement fund managed in Europe.
Mary Gavin, JD – Director of Policy, Marketing and Communications. Mary and Peter Mazonas started working together at Bank of America. Mary is a lawyer by training who has been running her own C-level communications strategy and content company for 25 years. Formerly at Bank of America, she was in the Corporate Treasury Group, Chief of Staff to the CEO, and Manager of Executive Communications, where she served three successive CEOs, and was chief speechwriter. She has extensive experience growing sales and revenues for both for-profit and nonprofit companies. Mary holds a BA from Georgetown University, an MA from Stanford University and a JD from the University of California.
Annalise Mazonas, – Director of Home Improvement. Annalise attended graduate design and interior architecture training at Parsons (The New School) in New York. She has spent the last 10-years as a contractor and project manager/designer on major residential and retail remodels in Los Angeles. Her strength is design in AutoCAD, 3-D AutoCAD, augmented reality (AR), followed by execution. Annalise is responsible for NatEquity’s division that designs and supervises the implementation of modernized kitchens and bathrooms in our borrower’s homes.
